Abstract

The decay $\phi \to \gamma \pi \pi$ is described within the $U(3) \times U(3)$ chiral Nambu$-$Jona$-$Lasinio model. It is shown that the inclusion of intermediate scalar mesons $f_0(500)$ and $f_0(980)$ plays an important role. All mesons are considered as quark-antiquark states.
